Insight into some natural remedies for MRSA

In response to an earlier blog post, one person pointed out that she had been using Oil of Oregano to help protect her daughter against the MRSA going around in our school. Before going any further, I want to thank her personally for pointing out the possibility. In doing some research, I have found both (not really negative, just not astounding) results of research for this. Of course the pharmaceutical companies, if they had any part in the research, certainly don't want us to find anything natural to use. They might lose a little money. I little ironic to be sure since their drugs and the doctors overuse of antibiotics have put us in this position to begin with. The MRSA bugs have overcome the antibiotics just like every other evolving species. I refer to the word species because anything that can eat flesh like I have personally seen this bug do, certainly qualifies for a species in my book. I also found a really good website forum where people are talking about Oil of Oregano and Oreganol P73 and their successes with overcoming and preventing this skin infection. According to this study: carvacrol, one of oregano's chemical components—appear to reduce infection as effectively as traditional antibiotics. I work in the medical health area, am not a doctor but am a worried mother as I see new varieties of diseases coming out. I have been researching oregano oil for a while. Some studies say that pure oregano oil is a strong antiviral, so much that some stress that in an avian flu pandemic, oregano oil might save your life. Many others claim that it does work good on MRSA infections and on respiratory infections. You must note that if pregnant, you should not use any essential oil. I, for one, think that oregano oil is worth the try. At home we have used it, and for example, for common cold, again and again, those of us that use the oregano oil, come out without even a fever. I personally use it in doses of 4-5 drops in an empty capsule(taste is very strong and spicy), once or twice daily, with food(it can be hard on an empty stomach)when I feel that I just might get sick. So, the mom that is using it to protect her daughter at school from MRSA, is very probably on the right track.
