5 beginning signs of mrsa

Will you recognize MRSA in you or your child? Be aware that there are a couple of different strains, at least in my experience, and you should be aware of the warning signs for the worse of the two. - Both kinds start out as a lump under the skin that is easily felt and very painful, but the lesser infection will remain the same in appearance although it may increase somewhat in size
- The area of skin immediately over the lump will be red in both types
- In the more severe infection, the lump will grow, and grow pretty quickly. In some cases the size will double in a day's time
- The redness over the lump will expand in size so it extends outward from the actual lump, and this happens fairly quickly. In my daughter's case, in a matter of four days, the infection had spread from a lump in her bikini line halfway down her thigh!
- There will be a fever with this type. My daughters occurred on the third day. At that point she had been given an antibiotic and had taken it for two days (We went to the family physician on day ONE).
Once it gets to the point where the infection is eating away at the tissues inside, the only antibiotic that seems to work is the vancomycin. That is great, except for those poor souls who have no health insurance will be paying $1,200 for 20 twenty pills. If the redness is spreading, and there is fever, take them or go to the hospital. If your family doctor doesn't seem concerned, bypass them. It CAN mean the difference between life, death or loss of limb. Two people I know personally contracted this infection within the same two week period, neither related or even in contact with the other. One lost a finger and my daughter could have lost her leg. Don't wait if it shows these signs. If it stays a smallish red lump, it may be the lesser or the two.

I am not an expert by any means, however, I have recently discovered "Oil of Oregano". This has in some cases been more effective than the antibiotics that the dr. may prescribe for MRSA. Since this is now in the local schools, I have been giving this to my daughter as a preventative measure. You can find much about this on the internet and you can buy it at God's Little Garden at the Cranberry Mall. This has been put out there by Dr. Ingram. Check it out. It's catching on. Do you have pic's of the start of Mrsa? Comment #4 Kristin at 07/09/08 15:06
I have had an ongoing battle with the boils under my arms, on my butt and bikini area for over 6 months. Oil of Oregano, worked for only a short time. Natural supplements are great for colds or the flu, but MRSA, is nothing to mess around with. Oil of Oregano, worked for a week. Use natural supplements for colds or the flu, but MRSA, is nothing to mess around with. I tried to treat mine with Oil or Oregano and Grapefruit Seed Extract for two weeks. Now, I feel run down, weak and have three boils under my arm. I am seeing an infectious disease doctor tomorrow afternoon to (hoepfully) get this taken care of once and for all. Leave the natural stuff alone for serious illnesses. Comment #5 Michelle Russell at 08/08/08 23:37
About a year ago my daughter of 2 years old got her first bout with MRSA. She was in pain. The first time I didn't know what it was...but now I do! She has gotten it 3 more times since then. I know the beginning symptoms so I take her immediately before it even develops a puss sack. About 2 months ago I got it. I was out of work for a week. The antibiotics are very strong. Well last Thursday I notice something on the back of my knee but I bleww it off as a mosquito bite. By Sunday it was really infected. Monday I went to the Drs. asnd again they had to lance it and pack it, etc. etc. It was the worst pain I have felt in a long time. Having a baby was less painful than MRSA. This is a serios infection and my advice is to question unusual bumps that you think are bites, small abrasions, etc. etc.to think twice about at least showing your Dr. This is a very painful infection and very hard to get rid of and it leaves nice scars that are very noticeable. Ihope I have given some advice to anyone. Comment #6 Amber at 09/26/08 17:19
My name is Amber. I have a 6 year old daughter that was finally diagnosed with MRSA super bug. This is the 3rd bout she has had. I have a 3 year old son and watching him like a hawk. I am looking for an alternative to the anitbiotics that she is having to take at such a young age. She is already allergic to SULFA drugs now because of it. I am affraid that if she gets sick with the flue or something worse in the winter, that antibiotics are not going to work. ANY SUGGESTIONS for my baby girl? You can email me directly as well. As soon as you see a tiny bump come p or feel itchy, take some cotton balls and dip into some bleach water. Wipe over the area thoroughly. You can also put a few capfuls (I do a little more, but in general a few caps is good) into hot bathwater and soak for aout 10 minutes or so. Also, ALWAYS pour bleach into the bathtub or shower EVERYTIME after you've been in it, to sanitize it. (I also bleach sinks, toilets, and floors.)MRSA is very contagious. I then put silver cream and cover with a bandage.Always keep wounds covered. Don't use antibacterial soap, use regular or a little bleach. Bleach really is ypour best defense. Lastly, Do a thorough body cleanse, won with nature .com has a great cleanse with everything you need. Comment #8 larissa will at 01/09/09 11:17

To all of those people who think you have MRSA don't wait go to your doctor or emergency room. I personally have been fighting with this disase for about a year now. Do not take any chance's you only get one life to live. I have found out from the hospital doctor that this starts in your nasal cavities. He put me on a ointment that goes direclty in your nose. I have not been able to breath out of both of my nostrals for about a year and when I started using the meds I notices that I can now breath with out feeling like I have a cold all of the time or my allergys are bad. Just a word of advise from someone who suffers from MRSA.
