I know this will probably bring about ire in many, especially those in Oil City who write the paperwork for the grant money we keep hearing about.
This morning while reading the morning paper, to my amazement I find another article about grant money.
This time, Oil City has been granted $205,000 to make the Southside streets more pedestrian friendly. They have identified a few problem areas that are dangerous for pedestrians, so guess what we are doing with the money?
Another study. Wow
People, have you ever stopped to wonder what we could accomplish instead of paying a ridiculous price for people to come and study us and give us their recommendations? Do we not have any local experts?
Of course we do. The people who use the streets every day of our lives can tell you how traffic flows, and where you have to cross the street in fear of being run over!
If you know you need an audible signal at a crossing, why the heck don't you put the funds toward the signal instead of paying someone to tell us how traffic flows through there? We KNOW how traffic flows through there!
All the wasted dollars spent. A study on whitewater. Do we have a whitewater park? Nope.
A study on geo-thermal systems. Do we have a geo-thermal system? Nope.
More studies on waterway use. Do we use the waterway for ANYTHING different than we did before the multiple studies? Nope.
Do we still have neighborhood blight? Yep. So did the study about neighborhood blight tell us we had neighborhood blight? Tell us something we DON'T ALREADY KNOW!
Does it make you feel important to hire someone to do a STUDY about something in Oil City? What is the real issue in hiring these people to tell us things that could have been figured out by any random person on the street.
Why don't you ask the residents of the town what THEIR study shows? We can tell you where the problems are. We can tell you what we want out of our town. We want our kids to be able to cross the street in safety. Spend the money accomplishing that.
Don't waste one more precious dollar on another study!
