In response to an earlier blog post, one person pointed out that she had been using Oil of Oregano to help protect her daughter against the MRSA going around in our school. Before going any further, I want to thank her personally for pointing out the possibility. In doing some research, I have found both (not really negative, just not astounding) results of research for this. Of course the pharmaceutical companies, if they had any part in the research, certainly don't want us to find anything natural to use. They might lose a little money. I little ironic to be sure since their drugs and the doctors overuse of antibiotics have put us in this position to begin with.
The MRSA bugs have overcome the antibiotics just like every other evolving species. I refer to the word species because anything that can eat flesh like I have personally seen this bug do, certainly qualifies for a species in my book.
I also found a really good website forum where people are talking about Oil of Oregano and Oreganol P73 and their successes with overcoming and preventing this skin infection.
According to this study: [404 Check: was link to http:/ / gumc. georgetown. edu/ communications/ releases/ archive/ carvacrol_ treatment_ 10062001. htm, anchor: carvacrol, one of oregano's chemical components—appear to reduce infection as effectively as traditional antibiotics] .
