Just from personal experience, never buy a car from a used car dealer that offers lots of financing options. Yeah they have a lot of vehicles and they finance people with bad credit, but they will sell you a "lemon". I bought an 01 Pontiac Grand Prix there last year from them and it was the biggest mistake I have ever made. It was a very disappointing purchase.I financed the vehicle for about $7000. I had it for about 3 months when it started acting up. At that time I had paid almost $4500 for the car. I replaced the intake gasket and when the car was still over heating and unable to drive I took it to a Pontiac dealer and they had informed me that The head gasket was bad and the used car dealer had to have known about it when they sold it to me.
I was furious at this point, but I tried being reasonable and talking to them. I told them the problem and told them that they needed to fix the vehicle, they still refused. At that point I started looking into a lawyer, I informed them of this and they told me I could bring the car back and I didn’t have to pay the remaining balance, but I did not get any of the money I put into the car back.
What suggestions do you have to help others avoid this kind of mistake?
